Why chose a server for your business?

Servers provide a centralized data store for critical and non critical company information. While it may seem as if one is putting all their eggs in one basket, note that the "one basket" is actually a highly sophisticated data store which is built with reliability in mind. Servers differ from regular desktop computers in that they store there information on a redundant series of disks called a RAID array.

RAID allows multiple disks to work together so that if one becomes corrupt the others compensate and no data is lost. Also, because data is striped out over multiple drives, file access time is significantly reduced because pieces of it come from different drives at the same time. Servers are automatically backed up at defined intervals whereas the typical desktop computer is only backed up when the user remembers.
